Saarland

Saarland is the birth state of our Ford Focus, and the capital is Saarbrücken. This was our first visit to this state, and we had problems finding the entrance to the French-German Garden, and we ended up in France by mistake:-) France and Germany have fought about Saarland for ages, and it was only in 1957 that Saarland in a referendum decided to belong to Germany. The reason for the dispute between the two countries is of course the coal in the many mines.
