St Pauls

Amsterdam April 2026

Amsterdam might be the most  beautiful city name in the world. The weather was absolutely magnificent, with radiant sunshine and temperatures ranging between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. We went on canal tours twice, as it was so delightful, and we saw houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The food was exquisite, and the Dutch people were gracious and highly accommodating.

One of the days we visited Keukenhof – The Kitchen Garden. It began as a herb garden for the palace of Keukenhof, but gradually evolved into a spectacular garden for tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils. Seeing all the flowers was breathtaking. In every corner of the garden, a new and ingeniously designed floral arrangement unfolded.

Around 40,000 people visit Keukenhof every day, hence the multitude of people in the pictures. The white tulip Suomi 100 was created to commemorate the centenary of Finnish independence in 2017. There are many photos of this tulip, as it was perhaps the most mesmerizing flower in the entire garden.

The arrangements of daffodils and Muscari in several of the pictures are striking, and Keukenhof truly excels in the art of gardening. We also visited Tulip Experience Amsterdam, located not far from Keukenhof. It was a tulip museum offering the opportunity to stroll among the vibrant tulip fields.

We also purchased tulip bulbs from the flower market and cheese from Henri Willig, a company with locations throughout Amsterdam. The coconut cheese is truly indulgent, and we ended up buying quite a lot of it.

We also visited the Royal Palace and Our Lord in the Attic, the latter a Catholic church from the 1660s, hidden in the attic of an ordinary house to avoid the scrutiny of the authorities.
